The Dean is elected by the Faculty Proper, which he or she chairs along with all Faculty committees. The Dean represents the Faculty within and outside the University, and is free in the management of the Faculty’s affairs.

Prof. Dr. Lindner moreover chairs all examination boards (mit Ausnahme des Promotionsausschusses) and the Committee for Teaching, Studies and Academic Reform. One of his primary duties, in collaboration with the disciplines and the Committee, is to draft study regulations and to review whether the teaching offer is in conformity with the examination and study regulations, and whether degree programmes can be completed properly within the standard period of study.

Examination Office and Course Guidance
The Examination Office of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is responsible for exam administration in the bachelor’s and master’s degree courses as well as in the expiring Magister and Diplom courses. Students undergoing teacher training at the University of Cologne are supported in the exam phase by the Cologne branch of the NRW State Examination Office.
Course Guidance provides you with information and advice on studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, notably as regards interdisciplinary issues and academic examinations.
