Course description
- What is information and how is it conveyed verbally and non-verbally?
- How can information be processed?
- What do we mean by digital humanities?
- Why do the humanities need informatics?
- Can computers communicate with us via natural language interfaces?
- How does social software work?
- What will happen to libraries when nothing is printed anymore?
By studying a broad range of issues, you will learn how to derive the requirements for technical systems and design these systems. You will acquire the skills to analyse, structure, plan and manage complex projects in working groups. You will also be given the skills to organise and control your own learning and development processes.
The degree course covers the development of information systems for the processing of linguistic, image and media data from the humanities and cultural sciences. In the process, you will study, amongst other things, modern software architectures, databases, speech processing, information extraction, 3D simulations and game programming.
