The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is committed to equal opportunities and thus fulfills the fundamental requirement to implement equal rights for women and men as stipulated by the Constitution, the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Equal Opportunities Act of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The implementation of gender equality, which is structurally anchored at the University of Cologne, as well as in the vision of a gender-responsive university developed within framework of the Institutional Strategy, is supported by a decentralised Equal Opportunities Officer at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. The responsibilities of the decentralised Equal Opportunities Officer include the provision of advice and information, the creation of plans for gender equality and support during appointment procedures.
