Course description

The China studies offered in Cologne are oriented towards structures of state, business and law, culture and society in modern China.

Within this framework, current specific research comprises:

  • Political history and political system of modern China
  • Media development and socioeconomic aspects of the Chinese reform policy
  • Population policy and socioeconomic developments in 20th-century China
  • Constitutional and business law
  • Constitutional theory and human rights in China
  • Interdependencies between sociocultural change and the establishment of a modern legal system
  • Questions relating to the literature and intellectual history of China since the 2nd half of the 19th century
