Aim With the Advanced Professorship programme, the Wübben Science Foundation supports German universities that wish to appoint international researchers in the R4 career phase to a W2 or W3 professorship. Candidates must have been working outside Germany for at least three years at the time of application. It is not possible to return to the place where the doctorate was completed. The proposal can be submitted to the foundation as soon as the person to be appointed has been determined.

Funding up to € 1.6 million for the salary of the academic as well as personnel and material resources, investments and onboarding and dual career measures (half of the costs of a tenure-track professorship as well as additional funds amounting to 10% of the Foundation's share of costs)
Internal Deadline Only one proposal per university may be submitted. The internal procedure is done through the dean's offices of the University of Cologne. They can send the completed template and the appendix (CV of the candidate) to d7.beratung@verw.uni-koeln.de by Monday, 9 February 2026 (deadline at the foundation: 31 March 2026).
