Applying for a higher semester
Applications for higher semesters are also submitted via the internal application portal KLIPS. The application deadline is extended to March 15 for applications for the summer semester and September 15 for the winter semester.
You can find the steps for applying on this page (https://phil-fak.uni-koeln.de/en/studium/master/anerkennungen-und-einstufungen) and in the FAQ section listed there.
Please note that your bachelor's degree must be relevant to the master's program for which you wish to apply in the higher semester. You must also ensure that you have a minimum number of credits to be classified in a higher semester. If you are unsure about this, we recommend that you apply for the first semester, for which the deadline is earlier. Recognition of credits and, if necessary, reclassification to a higher semester is also possible afterwards.
For applicants with a foreign BA: For an international bachelor's degree, a preliminary review of the documents by uni assist (https://www.uni-assist.de/bewerben/bewerbung-planen/vpd/) is also required for an application to a higher semester. The bachelor's degree certificate must be submitted online to uni assist in German or English.
