Excellent Research at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities has a wide research profile that ranges from African Studies to Prehistoric Archaeology. At the numerous departments, institutes and research units of the Faculty, top research is undertaken and its outstanding position is regularly confirmed by renowned national and international awards, prizes and grants. Particularly noteworthy here is, among others, the awarding of the Leibniz Prize 2017 of the German Research Foundation (DFG) to Professor Anne Storch of the Institute for African Studies, the successful establishment of Collaborative Research Centres such as CRC "Prominence in Speech" of Professor Dr Ing. Klaus von Heusinger of the Department of German Language and Literature as well as the successful establishment of a long-term project on the Arab thinker Averroes led by Professor Dr Andreas Speer and funded the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities and the Arts.
