Course description
The interdisciplinary degree programme in information processing looks at the development and use of information processing systems in the context of questions relating to the humanities. The term “digital humanities” has become established for this field of research. The study focus lies on the areas of linguistic and historical cultural studies information processing. As an applied computer science of the humanities, information processing uses machine-based systems to process data and theories from general and single-language linguistics, literary philology, historical science, language use and communication. It concerns the presentation, use and processing of linguistic and non-linguistic data.
The master’s degree in information processing concerns itself with questions arising from the use of information processing system in the humanities. The modules cover a wide range of topics, from software technologies and the processing of text-based and multidimensional data though to visual programming, artificial intelligence, digital and computational archaeology and much more.
Students must demonstrate their proficiency in English at level B1 (CEFR) to register for their master thesis. Other language skills may have to be demonstrated upon admission to the master’s degree. You can find more information in the admission regulations.
