The master’s programme Medieval Studies (MAMS) in Cologne combines the teaching and research offered within a nationally and internationally outstanding range of medievalist subjects:

- Byzantine Studies
- Medieval Latin Philology
- Medieval History
- Historical and cultural studies information processing (Digital Humanities)
- Art History
- Philosophy
- Romance Studies
- Jewish Studies
MAMS offers you the possibility of conducting medievalist studies in an interdisciplinary breadth while also focusing on extraordinary specialisms in subjects that, in Germany, can only be found in this combination in Cologne.
Together with Cologne archives, museums and libraries, these cooperate in the interdisciplinary Centre for Medieval Studies in Cologne (ZEMAK).
Students must demonstrate their proficiency in English at level B2 (CEFR), proficiency in another working language (e.g. French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch) at level B1 (CEFR) and Latin proficiency comparable to the Latin certificate (Latinum) or Greek proficiency comparable to the intermediate Greek certificate (Graecum) or Hebrew proficiency comparable to the intermediate Hebrew examination (Hebraicum) to register for their master thesis.
