Course description

The degree programme initially includes three mandatory advanced modules, in which central principles of rhetoric, media theory and history, text linguistics, pragmatics and information structure are taught. Other mandatory components include a 12-week placement and participation in the specialisation module “Project Workshop”, in which theoretical and practical knowledge of text production is combined, the students’ own texts are presented and their well-founded assessment is discussed. In the compulsory elective components, it is also possible to place a focus on the “Production of and Reflection on Pragmatic Forms” or the “Production of and Reflection on Literary Forms”. It is also possible to take part in the Poetica literary festival or the TransLit poetics lectureship. Here, students are given the opportunity to work with renowned authors to explore the poetics of writing and gain experience in organising cultural events. In terms of extension modules, classes on selected career-related aspects in the context of the cultural sector, which go beyond writing (e.g. project management, media law, professional networking, public relations), can also be attended. It is also possible to have any credits achieved abroad recognised.
