Career perspectives
After successfully completing your bachelor's degree, you have the option of continuing on to a master's degree to deepen your specialist knowledge and/or specialize. Alternatively, you can also start working directly in various professional fields. We recommend always completing internships during your studies for better orientation. Internships can be in certain circumstances recognized for your study programme or your Studium Integrale.
The aim is to provide students with the academic methods, knowledge and competence in the linguistic system to develop their own professionally relevant strategies for action and to independently monitor the development of academic findings and apply them in a functional way with an eye on their future use in their professional life.
In the bachelor’s degree in English studies, students acquire the knowledge and skills required to analyse and appropriately present complex cultural and linguistic matters. This is primarily achieved through the practical and academic study of the English language and anglophone literary and cultural forms. The degree familiarises students with interpretation and analysis tools, promotes the quick production and structuring of texts and gives them skills in text production and text reception.
The degree programme qualifies students for an internationally oriented, flexible professional activity, e.g.:
- In culture management
- In publishing (proofreading, translation, foreign language work)
- In librarianship
- Within public relations, advertising and tourism
- In international organisations
- In continuing vocational training
- In various educational institutions.
