Course description
The degree course focuses on the following regions: the Arab countries of the Middle East and North Africa, the Iranian cultural area, the countries of South-East Asia and Turkey.
Other main themes:
- Developments in Islamic religion and law at different times and in different regional contexts
- The plurality and dynamism of Islamic religious practices and beliefs in different cultures and local context
- Traditional and modern literature from the key Islamic regions
- Social and political transformations and structures in predominantly Islamic regions and areas
After providing you with knowledge about the diversity and richness of Islamic cultures and societies in various regions of the world, as well as in Germany and Europe, our degree course will open up interesting new perspectives on current debates.
Innovative forms of teaching, practical phases and periods of study abroad (optional) will strengthen your intercultural skills and prepare you for your future endeavours, whether as a master’s student or outside of the university.
