Course description
The China studies offered in Cologne are oriented towards structures of state, business and law, culture and society in modern China.
Within this framework, current specific research comprises:
- Political history and political system of modern China
- Media development and socioeconomic aspects of the Chinese reform policy
- Population policy and socioeconomic developments in 20th-century China
- Constitutional and business law
- Constitutional theory and human rights in China
- Interdependencies between sociocultural change and the establishment of a modern legal system
- Questions relating to the literature and intellectual history of China since the 2nd half of the 19th century
Students must demonstrate their proficiency in English at level B2 (CEFR) to register for their master thesis. Other language skills may have to be demonstrated upon admission to the master’s degree. You can find more information in the admission regulations.
